Renaissance Zone Program
Mandan's 28 Block Renaissance Zone

Since the Mandan Renaissance Zone was established in 2005, the program has been effective in enhancing our community and economic development efforts by offering tax incentives for the revitalization of commercial and residential properties.

The community has realized nearly $17 million in commitments for private investment in 31 buildings being newly constructed, expanded or rehabilitated within the zone.

Zone boundaries generally extend on the south side of Main Street, westerly from Mandan Avenue to 10th Ave SW and on the north side of Main Street westerly from 13th Ave NE through 8th Ave NW.

People making substantial improvements to commercial properties or homes in the zone may qualify for property tax exemptions and state income tax exemptions for up to five years.

A Renaissance Zone project must be approved by the Renaissance Zone Committee, the City Commission and the North Dakota Department of Commerce - Division of Community Services before an eligible purchase, lease or rehabilitation of the property begins.

To apply, you'll need to submit the following documents:

Mandan Renaissance Zone application
Form to request certificate of good standing from N.D. Tax Department

Submit the form to request a certificate of good standing to the N.D. Tax Department. Submit the certificate you receive along with the Mandan Renaissance Zone application and business incentive agreement to the City of Mandan Business Development Office at City Hall, 205 Second Avenue NW, Mandan, ND 58554.
